What's the timeline continuity like? | As the event writers & Toboso-sensei have mentioned, and as the way things are developing in the story, in-game events will take place in an "IF" or suspended timeline as I alluded to years ago. I totally understand! It took me a lot of courage and some slight insanity to click the 'post' button on the story.

What should I call you? What pronouns do you use? | I wasn't thinking much when I picked my handle name, but please refer to me as "Error" if you're stuck! ("hey you" and "author" and "poopyhead" etc. is fine too!) Recently it seems that a lot of people are calling me sensei or senpai too? LOL 🤔❓As for pronouns... Anything! Whatever makes you comfortable 👍

Will you write the limited-time events occurring in-game? | Yes!

I have been looking for the best time and "break" in the main story for years as the timing never seemed quite right. However, I had an epiphany after finishing Episode 7.

The first limited-time event was released right after Episode 3 finished airing way back in like April 2020, but according to the reader's votes (completed on June 3rd, 2021), the event stories will be posted separately AFTER the completion of Episode 4, 5, and 6.

The reason I didn't write them earlier is because a lot of character development in the main story is sort of assumed to have taken place before the events, so many people who have never met act all friendly in the events. (This is sort of made fun of in Episode 7 Chapter 7 when Idia is like "who the heck are you Diasomnia weirdoes")

However, because of various recent exciting developments in the story, it would be best for the characters to have working knowledge of event-only areas BEFORE I write Episode 7. So, the short answer is: After Episode 6, Before Episode 7!

What’s the side-story "Unending Night Festival" for? | Yuu isn't a reliable narrator! Both the readers and the author would like to explore what happens out of her peripheral vision—which means it's a story for alternative perspectives of the main story. While there won’t be story “advancements” in this side-story, there WILL be information you won’t find anywhere else. By the way, the story was posted due to my overflowing thanks for everyone who supported me early on. So thank you! I never expected to be able to create this, and I am truly grateful!

Any writing tips? | Actually, this is my first time writing anything out of school assignments No longer a student, so I don’t know if anything I say will be useful… but here and here are some of my ideas. Can you write [request]? | Maybe! I’m sure there are better writers out there and ones with more time on their hands than a no-longer recently graduated job slave 😇 Don't be shy about requesting, I just can't guarantee I'll do it right away—but if you say it I'll at least keep it in mind! Thank you for your consideration. ✨

Do you think you can include [idea] in your plot? | I would like to keep most of my "main story ideas" original and close to the in-game story, as I have pretty much everything planned out. Due to this, I try to refrain from taking any ideas outright, and also try to stay away from other stories to avoid ending up stealing some idea... But you can suggest anything you'd like and I'll at least think about it! (It's easier to get me to include a small detail versus a giant plot twist.) Though after every new main story update I have to re-plan like thirty chapters anyways LOL. Don't ask me what Episode 7 has done to the story, because then I will have to tell you I accidentally made it work from Chapter 1 two years ago?! (I got lucky this time! Episode 6 was a nightmare though.)

Hey. How long is this story going to be!? | As long as the main game story runs! TL;DR really long. Looking at my current planning documents and Episode 7 Chapter 10, I'm estimating around 2.7 million words to its end (For this "volume" of the series anyway.)! Yes the word count keeps growing, check back later... By the way, we are currently just about halfway through, IF you don't include Episode 8 (not yet released).

How do you write this story? | | uh... I just sit down and type when I have a spare second 🤣 Though since music is the food of my soul, I can't survive without listening to something 24/7. I tend to make the most progress when slightly sleep deprived or procrastinating (and of course listening to music). Inspiration comes from every single thing I watch, read, hear and play; I'm lucky to be in a fan-base where crazy talented people are everywhere—there's a TON of Twisted content on NicoNico and pixiv and Twitter that balloons by the hour! Thank you to the geniuses around the world!!!

About the number of chapters in the main story | Right now the goal is 100. Yes it keeps growing (part 2). In fact I recently added a chapter number to Episode 4 because I didn't want a 50,000 word conclusion in one post... Don't get me started on the Episode 1 giant edit that's doubled its word count already. Or the second novel which added almost 200k words to the story. Or how Chapter 50 came close to 50000 words anyway despite my efforts... Anyway visit back for updated numbers! lol

About word length in the main story | I get a lot of varying questions about this! Apart from the beginning chapters (pre-edit, anyway), I usually try to keep one chapter to 25,000 30,000 words (yes, it grew). Of course my priority is to have events flow well and be fun to read, so this is a REALLY loose sort of limit, but once my word count balloons over 40,000 there's some consideration about shaving some of it into a new one... (Mission failed miserably many times...) As you can probably tell, I'm not one who prunes their words 'cause I only care about having fun, which means content keeps increasing in proportion to how much fun I have... But! The great thing about writing fan-fiction is that you can do whatever the heck you want even if the quality is questionable! HA HA HA!! Eat my huge chapters!!! 😈

How long is your planning document now? | How did you know it was still growing?! 🤣 (For those of you who don't know, I try to plan out my chapters using a separate document...) Actually it got split into eight documents, a spreadsheet, and more. I now have a folder of documents of notes as well as a Project in Notion.so dedicated to the project. Each new chapter gets its own document, so 50 sheets + spreadsheet + other notes from the story that I take while reading...? (I don't want to know how many words it is)

I usually plan ahead on Notion and glance at it on my second monitor while finalizing the chapter. Even after I sent everything about the first four Episodes to the Shadow Realm, it keeps growing like a parasite 😱 I keep making new pages and documents, and can only hope that I don't hit some sort of page limit in Notion...

How planned-out is the story? | Like mentioned earlier, it's both planned and not planned. You know how there are "architect" writers and "gardening" writers? I'm both! Neither! (I don't know!!) Basically, I try to have the broad main plot-line of the story set in stone—which is easy since we're following the in-game story, and very loosely/peripherally, the events of Harry Potter—but I also let things fly out the window when I type. So even if the ending and major events are already "planned" since years ago, my fingers don't always follow my brain! It's really fun for me to see how out of control the story gets from my expectations 🤣 It's also fun to see how Episode 6 completely destroyed my plans for like twenty chapters...

Favourite dorm? Favourite character? | Everyone is my favourite character, and this is not an exaggeration. Recently the amazing Mister Graves has been added to the list now that Rollo and Fellow and Gidel have all come to NRC with to join Ramshackle lol In Japanese you might call me a 箱推し (hako-oshi, fan of all)... Well, Grim is a little special because he's cute and his plush is really soft to hug! Predictably, every dorm is my favourite dorm ✨✨ (Trivia: your author was sorted into Ignihyde during the pre-release tour of NRC, just like Toboso-sensei!)

Is there going to be romance for Yuu? 😍 | Oh you guys... 😂 (This might be my most frequently asked question LOL) At least from Yuu's perspective, this story will not focus mainly on romantic relationships because (1) Yuu probably holds little interest or ability to hold a romantic relationship at her current stage of emotional growth and (2) there's too much going on even without romance. Also, if these characters are already messed up without adding a volatile emotion, adding "lurve" would make the reaction a little too explosive for this inexperienced author (or the rating) to handle!

However...I also don't speak in absolutes, so never say never! But if anything serious occurs it must be AFTER Episode 8 concludes and will probably be in a sequel. And that's all I have to say about that subject 😂

Will [character] ever discover Yuu's gender?! | 〜(￣▽￣〜) ... (〜￣▽￣)〜 ... ¯\( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)/¯ ？

I read your Translation Thoughts!/I want to try studying Japanese. Any Japanese-learning tips? | I'm probably the worst person to ask since I basically just started playing Japanese games four months into first-year classes, but I suggest (1) beating hiragana & katakana into one's skull before anything else; (2) attending a class or devoting half-an-hour to an hour of practice daily using a guided lesson book _{[Genki & Intermediate Japanese is what I used, but online resources are great too!]}; and MOST importantly (3) find something you want to read/play in Japanese! For me, it was video games. At the beginning I understood like 50% of what I was reading, but immersion is the best teacher. Just dive in and the rest will take care of itself! That's how I learned English 😂 ...I told you I was the worst person to ask. Extra tip: find some Japanese people to chat with! My Japanese conversation partners really helped me ace the listening portion of the JLPT. Yes, you can also listen to radio shows instead.

How come some of the language used here isn't the same as the official English in-game script? | Because I directly translate from the Japanese LOL

As mentioned above in 'Translation Thoughts', I have decided to completely sidestep the English translation and have no idea what it's like at all. If you want me to look at/include a specific detail from any version, please don't hesitate to contact me! And thank you so much to the kind people who send me screenshots of the English game for comparison.

However, I focus on trying to keep as much of the original meaning as possible, and the English translation is very liberal with changing things, so don't be surprised if something seems VERY different for those who play the English release. Because I love each character so much, I really want to make sure they aren't completely different like some of the English characters!

(Unfortunately, this means that I am more or less ignorant about the English version, though I would love to hear about what the North American experience of the game is like!)

Addendum | Apparently, there is some content removed in the English version of the game for Episode 5. Please keep this in mind when I finally get to that part, since English-only players might be confused when extra stuff pops up all of a sudden!

Will you be involving content used in the Fantastic Beasts movies, such as an Obscurus? | I get this question a lot! Honestly, my answer is that I'm not 100% sure how much I will involve those movies. Depending on the direction the main story takes, it might play a role much later down the line. I have to be very careful about making it "fit" in with the rest of the story without throwing events out of order and without making things seem too crammed full or too unnatural, so I'm still thinking about it while watching the direction the story goes. However, it's unlikely that we'll really dive into such content before I finish writing Episode 6 at least. At the very least, Yuu probably doesn't know much about an Obscurus like most teenage witches/wizards in 2019 and later. Nor is she at too much risk of developing one.

What about other areas of the Harry Potter universe? | There will eventually be spoilers for Cursed Child, which is mentioned at the beginning of the story notes. Actually, there might be spoilers for a bunch of tangentially-related Harry Potter content down the line. (With the notable exception of Magic Awakened.) This includes things like (1) Hogwarts Mystery, (2) Wizards Unite, and...

Okay, so you finished Hogwarts Legacy. (Twice.) Will there be Hogwarts Legacy-related content in the story? | At the very least, I will be using some parts of the school layout if we actually get to Hogwarts! While there will probably not be "main story" spoilers that involve the characters in that game Thematic spoilers (and maybe some story spoilers) are very likely and in fact have accidentally been foreshadowed since CHAPTER 1 of my story for some reason. As I guessed before the release of the game, it is a highly useful and excellent resource into the world, and does explore themes important to the story! Good job past me!! Okay, sorry. I'll shut up now.

Will Yuu have [ability] or perform [spell]? | I get this question a LOT a lot! Everyone wants her to be an Animagus or cast the Patronus... Including me LOL

The answer is: you will just have to wait to find out. I prefer to let the story do the talking, since me spoiling future events would steal the experience of actually reading it... As paltry as that experience may be. Of course, in the meantime, you are free to make predictions, write your own versions, or do whatever the heck you want! That's the wonderful freedom you have as a reader. But I hope I don't frustrate you when I continue to say, "just wait and see"!

Would it be possible for me to "print" and bind a book version of the story? Or can you do that? | Wow, I've been getting this question a LOT more than I expected lately! First of all, thank you for considering something like that! Due to concerns about the way copyright laws work in the US compared to Japan's way of allowing things like Comiket and fan events, it would be difficult to just print a book and sell it like everyone does so easily in Japan. Even though it would be a lot of fun, the implications especially with a company like Disney are rather serious, and I don't want to risk getting fined or locked up.

I will not be doing a single cent of monetary transactions concerning this story I'm just writing for fun. (But! If you want to buy something Twisted-related, all the original character/player Twisted novels look so tempting on BOOTH. Try visiting it, you will wish you lived in Japan because there are so many huge books for sale with all sorts of Yuus).

Basically, you are free and have my blessing to bind a book yourself, provided you (a) don't illegally distribute it/sell it etc. and/or (b) please don't plagiarize my work, masquerade it under another name, or etc.! (Actually I never expected I'd have to say that but apparently it's already happened LOL wow)

Also, there is one condition I have for binding your own book(s), and that is: PLEASE GIVE ME PICS once it's done! 🤣

(As of 2024, two amazing book-bindings have been shown to me. THEY'RE SO BEAUTIFUL but also... That is one thick book lol)
